Google TV

Google TV is Google's current smart TV experience: a recommendation-driven home screen that runs on top of Android TV OS. You'll find it on recent Sony Bravia, TCL, Hisense and Philips TVs, plus streamers like the Chromecast with Google TV and the Google TV Streamer. Most problems come down to a laggy home screen, apps that crash, casting failures, or the limited internal storage filling up.

Frequently asked questions

Is Google TV the same as Android TV?+

Not exactly. Google TV is the newer interface that runs on top of Android TV OS, adding a content-first home screen, user profiles and recommendations. Both use the same Google Play Store, so app availability and most troubleshooting steps are identical.

How do I free up storage on a Google TV device?+

Go to Settings → System → Storage to see what's using space, then uninstall apps you no longer use. You can also clear individual app caches under Settings → Apps → See all apps → select the app → Clear cache.
