Cookie Policy

Updated

This page explains exactly what Zemivora stores in your browser. Unless you allow analytics or advertising, we store two functional entries (your language and your own consent choice) and set no cookies at all. Analytics and advertising cookies exist only if you switch them on, and you can withdraw that at any time from the Cookie settings link in the footer.

Cookies vs. localStorage: a quick primer

Cookies are small pieces of data that websites store in your browser and that are sent back to the server with every request. localStorage is a related browser feature: data stays on your device and is not automatically sent anywhere.

By default Zemivora uses localStorage only and sets no cookies of its own. Cookies appear only if you give consent for analytics or advertising.

What Zemivora stores by default

zemivora.lang: records the language you picked so the site opens in that language on your next visit.

zv-consent: records your own answer to the cookie banner (what you allowed or refused, and when), so we do not ask again on every page. Storing it is what lets us honour your choice.

Both live in localStorage, contain no personal information, never leave your device, and are set regardless of consent because they exist only to do what you asked.

Analytics: only if you allow it

We use Google Tag Manager to load our measurement tools. Tag Manager itself does not set cookies or track you; it is a container that only loads what your consent allows.

If you accept analytics, Google Analytics 4 sets cookies in your browser (typically _ga and _ga_<container-id>, which last up to 2 years) to tell repeat visits apart and count them once. We use this only to see which guides get used and which fall short, so we can improve them. We do not sell this data and we do not try to identify you.

If you refuse, or just ignore the banner, no analytics cookies are set. We use Google Consent Mode v2, which starts with every signal denied before anything loads.

Being straight with you: even with consent denied, your browser still downloads the Tag Manager script from Google's servers, so Google receives your IP address as part of that request, as with any file loaded from a third party. What does not happen is cookies being written or your visits being linked together.

Advertising cookies: only if you allow them

Zemivora shows Google AdSense ads. If you allow Advertising, Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads, limit how often you see them, measure them and personalize them based on your visits to this and other websites. Google lists the cookies it uses (for example IDE, which lasts 13 months in the EEA, Switzerland and the UK and 24 months elsewhere) at https://policies.google.com/technologies/cookies.

If you refuse, or just ignore the banner, no advertising cookies are set: our pages keep AdSense ad requests paused, so no ads are requested and Google sets no new cookies. The AdSense script itself is still downloaded from Google on the pages that carry it (not on this page or the Privacy Policy).

You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google's Ads Settings (https://adssettings.google.com) and at https://www.aboutads.info. Withdrawing your consent from Cookie settings deletes the advertising cookies this site can reach and reloads the page.

Your consent, and how to change it

Functional storage such as the language preference does not require consent. It exists only to do what you asked: show the site in your language.

Analytics and advertising are different: nothing loads until you allow it. The banner offers accepting and refusing as equally easy, one-click choices, and nothing is pre-ticked.

You can change or withdraw your choice whenever you like from the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page. Withdrawing takes effect immediately and is as easy as giving consent was.

How to clear or block storage

To remove everything, clear this site's data in your browser, usually under Settings → Privacy → Site data, or via the padlock/tune icon in the address bar. The site will then fall back to your browser's preferred language and ask for your cookie choice again.

All major browsers also let you block cookies and site data per site or entirely. Blocking storage on Zemivora is safe: the site stays fully usable, but your language choice and your consent answer will not be remembered between visits.
